Compare sales options

Not more of everything. The right next move.

Hire another person? Train the team? Outsource sales? Each can sound like progress. What matters is which work is not happening today. Otherwise, you buy a solution to the wrong problem.

Understand the contribution

THE QUESTION THAT MATTERS

Is capacity, capability, clarity or a role missing?

External support, team development, process improvement and recruitment are not interchangeable packages. Compare them against the work that is being left undone.

Capacity: let someone own a defined part.

When the offer, customer group and task are clear, outside support can add capacity. It needs usable handovers, authority boundaries and an owner in your company.

Capability: develop the people you have.

When the team is available but recurring conversation tasks are difficult, focused practice and feedback may fit. That does not create missing demand or replace clear working arrangements.

Clarity: repair the route.

When contacts disappear between steps or no one knows what happens next, start with states and responsibility. More people might otherwise inherit the same confusion.

Structure: establish an ongoing role.

An employed sales role and an independent partnership solve different organisational needs. Clarify management, actual working arrangements, contractual questions and onboarding before looking for profiles.

AN EXAMPLE TO THINK THROUGH

The same revenue ambition. Three different starting points.

At company A, relevant contacts wait for callbacks: a possible capacity gap. At B, conversations happen but miss the customer’s need: a possible learning task. At C, the conversation works but nobody owns what follows: a possible process gap. These simplified examples are not remote diagnoses. They show why the same target does not imply the same action.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE A PROVIDER

Ask the questions. Including us.

A provider should be able to explain why their contribution fits here—and when another task should come first. If relevant contacts are missing altogether, demand and positioning may need attention before another salesperson.

  1. Which specific observation supports this recommendation?
  2. Which simpler alternative have we considered?
  3. How will we tell whether we are addressing the right part of the problem?

BEFORE THE FIRST CONVERSATION

Four things that create clarity.

  1. Which specific work is not getting done?
  2. Is relevant demand available?
  3. Who can own the task over time?
  4. Which option can be assessed within an agreed scope?

Clear questions.

Must we buy every service?

No. One useful engagement may concern a single task. Add other contributions only when they address a justified need.

Can the models work together?

Yes, if ownership, authority and handovers remain clear. More participants alone do not create a better sales structure.
